This star-studded group not only includes James Keenan (Tool frontman) but lately is comprised of Jeordie White (former Nine Inch Nails bassist), James Iha (former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist) and Josh Freese (former Nine Inch Nails and The Vandals drummer). Together, these powerhouse musicians create haunting yet elegant sound that is still able to maintain a hard rock feel.
The band started up in 1999 and took off to a good start when their debut album "Mer de Noms" (released in 200) became the first album to ever sell an impressive 188,000 copies in the first week. Initially they opened up for Nine Inch Nails but soon they progressed and became the headliners.
